Therefore, if you want to work, you must sign up in the Personnel Department to work unless your preference is already in. You must place a "YES" (I want to work) or remove it (I want the Lay—Off) by Monday, 4:00 p.m. one week prior to the Lay-Off period. So, the application deadline for this Lay-Off is December 12‘h. PENSION PLAN STATUS: Recently, there have been copies of notice to terminate the hourly-rate Personal Retirement Plan distributed, which has raised unnecessary concerns regarding the status of our Pension Plan. This notice does NOT apply to any employees here at Parma. It is only applicable to Entry Level Employees (Tier II’s) who were hired during the 2007 Contract. (Tier II’s only, this does NOT include the 10/15/2007 hires.) In other words, any UAW/GM Employee hired on 10/16/2007 or later is affected by this new language. Local 1005 Parma has no such employees, so this matter does NOT pertain to any UAW/GM Employees at our location.

During the 2011 National Negotiations, the International Union negotiated a different pension plan for the Entry Level Employees who were hired under the ‘07 Contract. As a result, their previous Personal Retirement Plan had to be terminated and those monies rolled into their new retirement accounts.

If you have any questions regarding the pension plan, please request that your Supervisor place a Benefits call for you, so that one of our very own Local 1005 Benefit Representatives/SME’s (SUBJECT MATTER EXPERTS) personally address any concerns you may have. Or call the GM Benefits and Services Center at 1-800-489-4646.
