HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE: We hope you had a safe and happy holiday shut- down to end 2009. Speaking about 2009, congratulations to you all on surviving the many hardships we endured. We had to rush to install the Epsilon work amid massive lay-offs, next we had to swallow a new contract with many take aways: Benefits, C.O.L.A., Holidays, Shut-Down Pay and on and on. Next, G.M. filed for the biggest bankruptcy in the history of the U.S. Then the plant closings were announced June 1st and G.M. to close half of its’ plants. From32 down to 15. Once again, brothers and sisters, we survived and Local 1005 is alive and well. Next, we were told of Paragraph 96 moves, because we were awarded much new work, and with that work, the U.A.W. people have the right to transfer with it. Through all of this, we have met the obstacles had on and this membership has once again, raised the bar by proving time and again that we could do the impossible and do it under budget and ahead of schedule by initiating innovative Local “Memos of Understanding and Out of the Box” thinking! In the midst of all this, you achieved a 96% B.I.Q. “Built In Quality” Level III Assessment! Parma, Local 1005, so far is still the first G.M. plant to be successful in this audit and still has the highest rating of 96%. Congratulations again, what an achievement!!

THE NEW EMPLOYEE PLACEMENT SYSTEM: Will kick off tomorrow, January 11, 2010 with a new web-based E.P.S. You can access it by using the U.A.W.-G.M. J.A.S. WITH THE CHANGE in plans and the B-3 swap for the Cut-To-Length press we have asked the International Union to re-visit the Paragraph 96 moves. We need to make sure the numbers won’t change and if they do they need to be adjusted accordingly. 96 Moves are based on work ie. Part Numbers, not equipment, but I have asked for the National Parties to audit the Part Numbers and head count to make sure it is correct.

96 MOVES: Monday, January 11, 2010, we will be receiving another 20 Technicians from the Mansfield Plant and they will be in orientation Monday and Tuesday, then Health and Safety Training the remainder of the week, remember to welcome these new 1005 Members to the plant.
